Building and Construction Systems Division President David W. Schlendorf retiring after a 39-year career with company

is stepping down as President of Alcoa’s www.alcoa.com building and construction systems division after 39 years with the company. The announcement came Tuesday. Schlendorf started with the company in 1971 as a sales representative in Los Angeles and served in his current capacity since 2000.
“Dave has had an exemplary career with Alcoa. During his tenure, he was responsible for several market development efforts, including the aluminum-structured car. As President of Alcoa Building and Construction Systems, Dave was key in structuring the various units of the business, while positioning them as leaders in each segment they play in today,” said Bill Christopher, Alcoa Executive Vice President and Group President Engineered Product and Solutions.
Alcoa is the world leader in the production and management of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina combined, through its active and growing participation in all major aspects of the industry. Alcoa serves the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets, bringing design, engineering, production and other capabilities of Alcoa's businesses to customers. The company employs approximately 59,000 people in 31 countries across the world.
Schlendorf departs with the company in strong financial shape. It closed the fourth quarter of 2009 with an 18 percent increase in revenue, positive free cash flow of $761 million and exceeded every operational cash sustainability target for the year.
Glen W. Morrison, who was president of Kawneer North America, www.kawneer.com a manufacturer of architectural aluminum building products and systems and part of Alcoa's building and construction systems business, will succeed Schlendorf.
